Fire crews from multiple communities were dispatched to wholesale florist Karthauser & Sons in Germantown for a structure fire.
GERMANTOWN, Wis. – Firefighters fought a blaze in Wholesale florist Karthauser & Sons in Germantown on Thursday morning February 24.
Officials say a 911 call about the fire reached the Germantown Police Department around 6:45 a.m.
Officers who arrived saw the fire was contained in a detached shed where there was a wood-burning stove to heat the company’s boilers. There was also a large amount of wood chips in the shed which fueled the wood stove.

Germantown firefighters arrived on scene and were able to contain the woodstove shed fire.

Initial investigation shows that the fire may have started due to a wiring problem with the burner. The preliminary damage estimate to the woodstove and building is $2 million.

The Germantown Fire Department was assisted by the following departments:
- Menomonee Falls
- Richfield
- Slinger
- mequon
- Thiensville
- Hartford
Other assisting agencies including We Energies, Germantown Highway Department, and Washington County Highway Department.
