Ready to flower: a new flower shop opens in Mayville | News, Sports, Jobs
MAYVILLE – Mayberry Jungle, Mayville’s new florist, opened this week.
For Mayberry Jungle owner Ariel Cartwright, opening a flower shop has been a lifelong dream. “I am in love with plants and flowers since I know how to walk” said Cartwright. “Also, there are no plant and flower shops here in this community, so I decided to open one.”
Similar to her love for plants, the name Mayberry Jungle comes from inspiration from her childhood roots, Cartwright said.
“I have lived in Mayville all my life,” she said. “People here still refer to Mayville as Mayberry. They would say things like, “We’re living the dream here in Mayberry,” so that’s where it came from. And Jungle, of course, is a reference to plants.
Mayberry Jungle will offer not only flowers, but also over 100 varieties of potted plants and indoor flowering plants and flowers.
“We also have fresh cut flowers and will provide wedding and funeral arrangements, as well as prom items, helium balloons, and personalized and home clothing.” said Cartwright.
Finally realizing his dream makes Cartwright feel a whole range of emotions.
“I’m both excited and nervous (to finally open up)”, said Cartwright. “This is one of my long-held dreams, and it’s finally coming true. I am also very proud. I’m proud of both the way we’ve set it up and our prices. But of course, it’s a little scary, because it’s something new.
Located at 36 S. Erie St. in the village, Mayberry Jungle will be open every Monday from 9 am to 5 pm; closed on Tuesdays; open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and Saturday, then from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday for the first month. Hours are subject to change and will be extended during the holiday season.
