SALISBURY — Plant World Botanics & Blooms opened downtown Saturday, helping customers brighten up their living room with a wide variety of plants and flowers.
“This growing area, this downtown area – it’s lovely first – and I really love the new revitalization the city is doing for this area,” said Andrew Donaldson, one of four owners. of shops.
Donaldson’s grandparents had opened their own nursery in the 1970s, which inspired him to follow in their footsteps, but also to try to do something different. Salisbury already has several flower and plant shops, so standing out is key to thriving in this market.
“For plants, it’s the knowledge that we can bring to them and the pleasure. Every plant is different, every plant has its own growth pattern and attitude,” Donaldson said. “We know it very well and it’s something we can bring to the table for everyone. When it comes to flowers, we do our best to source local flowers from farms here in North Carolina.
There are around 50 different plant varieties available, with the total number being around 200 at any one time. Plant World also offers workshops Thursday through Saturday, and the focus this month is on succulent garden pumpkins. Children can also come in anytime during office hours to decorate their own pumpkin.
“Many shop owners have reached out to us and just welcomed us to the area. The number of people who came on Saturday was really cool, everyone was really friendly.
Plant World is located at 109 E Innes St. in downtown Salisbury. Their opening hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and the shop is closed on Monday.
