Victoria Clausen arrived in the United States in 1997 from central Ukraine with just $300 in her pocket. Years later, she started a business and now owns Floral Parties at Timonium’s Greenspring resort.
She feels lucky and wants to give back to her war-torn homeland.
“It is impossible to kill the Ukrainian spirit,” she said.
Clausen sells bouquets of tulips, hydrangeas and other flowers, which are the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Each bouquet starts at $30. The money raised will be used to help people affected by the Russian invasion.
She calls them “Blooms for Ukraine”.
“We just felt it was such a beautiful parallel between flowers and human life,” she said.
She has been in close contact with her mother and brother, who are cowering to avoid bomb blasts and gunfire.
For now, they are safe.
“It’s the country that made me who I am,” she said. “Those are my roots. These are my people. It’s really hard to see.
Floral Fetes is located at 2360 West Joppa Road. You can place an order by calling 443-918-7018.
