Dengie Hundred Flower Arrangement Society 60th Anniversary

A flower arrangement company celebrated 60 years of creating flower arrangements.

The Dengie Hundred Flower Arrangement Society (DHFAS) celebrated its Diamond Anniversary at Bradwell Village Hall.

National Flower Demonstrator Alan Smith attended the party and put on a demonstration for everyone.

The company raised around £25,000 for several charities and was awarded a Silver-Gilt at the 1985 Chelsea Flower Show and a Silver at the 1996 show.

Villagers across the Dengie formed the society in 1961 and although the founding members are no longer present, many of the ladies who joined in the early 1970s still attend meetings.

Members meet throughout the year to learn about flower arranging, watch demonstrations and socialize.

Members attend flower shows and organize many occasions that take place in the Dengie.

Suzanne Ferris, Club President, said: “We are very proud to have reached this milestone. The club is an important part of the local community.

“While we recognize that the club has of course changed over the years, it still offers great camaraderie and is a wonderful way to connect with like-minded people.

“We hope it will still work for at least 60 years.”
