Corrie thrives with her flower shop

Since he remembered it, there have been flowers in his life. It is therefore not surprising that Corrie du Plessis opened a flower shop which he named “Fabulous”.

The store has been operational for a year now, successfully partnering with retailers Wecke & Voigts Spar, Westlane Spar and Grove Super Spar, among others. They sell beautifully arranged fresh flowers and also take care of decoration, planning and event management.

“It has always been my dream to own and successfully run my own flower and event management business because I literally grew up in flowers with my mom (Elizabeth) being a well known and sought after florist for about 40 years old, ”he said. VIBE!

Du Plessis (34) said he quit his high paying job at a local marketing agency over a year ago to pursue his passion and dream full time. “I took this leap of faith so that I could fulfill my ultimate dream of owning my own flower and event management boutique. If you do what you love to do, like your passion, they say you never work, right? “

The business has been afloat for over a year, despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and it has been difficult.

“However, now is a good time to think outside the box and question your motivation, and make that dream and that passion come true. If you work hard and just believe in your success or whatever it is, this is it. It will definitely be worth it and you will reap the rewards for your hard work.

He said the event management business and the flower arrangement business were working hand in hand.

“The smile and satisfaction of a customer when they receive or order flowers and see the final product is what motivates and fulfills me. “

The budding entrepreneur has seven staff members who help with both businesses and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Du Plessis, who also worked in the radio industry at one point, encouraged other young people on the path they need to take to get there.

“Fellow entrepreneurs like me: never, never give up on your dream, your momentum, your passion. If you fall, it’s okay, it’s normal. But get up, jump and run again. Have faith and work hard. If you can believe, you can be successful. [email protected]
