Pat told Be: “After giving birth to my boy, I decided it was time for me to start my own business. I started the business with my fiancé in June 2019 when I was on maternity leave and haven’t looked back since.

“For over two years I have focused on delivering arrangements to my clients, decorative pieces as well as gifts. Recently I decided to do something a little different and we created PH Flowers Little Florist Classes.

“The Little Florist Animation Class is a one-hour session where children experience a day in the life of a florist. Children are welcomed on site and given their little florist aprons, not only to keep their clothes neat and clean, but also as part of the experience.

“They will not only learn facts about the different types of flowers and greenery, but also create their own step-by-step arrangement using everlasting, fragrant faux flowers. We introduce them to the art of arranging floral through pleasure.

“March classes focus on designing an arrangement for Mother’s Day. Children will use faux flowers such as roses, hydrangeas, lavender, peonies and arrange them in a wicker basket.

“Children not only have fun, but also learn new skills such as developing a sense of beauty and also improve their coordination when working with different flowers and materials. We encourage children to love and enjoy flowers – maybe even inspire them to become a florist one day.

“At the end of the session, all children wrap their gift arrangement to take home and receive a certificate of completion from the little florist.”

Pat added: “As a mother of a toddler, I’m always looking for activities in the area that we could take part in. Unfortunately, there weren’t many options for my son to be creative. .

“My little boy and my stepdaughter love helping me with flowers, so one afternoon having fun with floral creations, the idea of the Little Florist lessons was born.”

Classes are priced at £19.99. March classes are held at YMCA Carrickfergus, Activity Room, 30-34 Irish Quarter W, Carrickfergus, BT38 8AT. Reservations can be made HERE.
